Is ChatGPT Down? Users Are Facing Error While Accessing It

OpenAI’s ChatGPT suffered a widespread global outage on June 10, 2025, disrupting access for thousands of users across regions.

Users are encountering elevated errors or experiencing latency when attempting to access and use the website. The official apps and other services using ChatGPT are also not working at the moment.

The issues began surfacing just before 5:15 AM EDT / 2:15 AM PDT and peaked around 5:32 AM EDT / 2:32 AM PDT, according to real-time data from Downdetector.

OpenAI’s status page has acknowledged this outage and informed us they’ve identified the reason behind the problem. “We have identified the root cause for the issue causing elevated errors and latency across the listed services. We are working on implementing a mitigation,” said OpenAI.

The current status of ChatGPT is saying: “We are seeing continued recovery across API and ChatGPT. We will provide further updates as progress is made.”

Over 1,100 user reports have been recorded. Roughly 93% of the complaints were directly linked to ChatGPT’s core functionality, 7% pointed to problems with the OpenAI app, and 1% involved login failures. Notably, the outage followed a full day of near-normal service with minimal disruptions.

Users turned to social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) to report issues ranging from blank chat windows and delayed or incomplete responses to server errors and infinite loading screens. Many reported being unexpectedly logged out or trapped in continuous login loops.

Several users also noted that the chatbot became unresponsive during active sessions, causing lost work and unfinished conversations.
